ETERNAL's recent final official project dissemination event provided project partners and external guests alike an opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate notable progress made during four years of collaborative research and scale-up for sustainable development of pharmaceutical manufacture, use and disposal, along with notable contributions towards building the the EU’s knowledge base informing environmental risk and ecotoxicity assessemts of pharamceuticals on the one hand and policy development on the other.

The ETERNAL project provides the setting for a new podcast episode producede by New Scientist with the support of UK Government about UK-Spanish collaboration. The podcast features an extended interview with researchers from IRIS Technology Solutions who are pioneering digitalisation elements within ETERNAL's industrial case studies, inlcuding those with Arcinova/Quotient Sciences and Astra Zeneca.

The ETERNAL Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action has just made seven industrial case study summaries publically available. The easily-read two-page documents provide a concise summary of the key features, progress to date, and further steps involved as several of the project's applied research efforts start to yield fruit in an at or near industrial ready state.

This video describes how concerted efforts in ETERNAL's case studies distributed across a range of industrial use cases and the extended value chain for pharmaceuticals are making a real and positive impact upon the future sustainability and competitiveness of the sector.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data (BD) presents an unprecedented opportunity within the framework outlined by the International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) to enhance quality assurance, streamline drug development processes, increase traceability at supply chain level, and ultimately improve quality and safety of medicinal products. A new report generated by the ETERNAL Research and Innovation Action discusses the ethical considerations and legislative imperatives for integrating AI and BD within the ICH guidelines to ensure responsible usage and sustainable business outcomes.
